It is so named because it resembles the structure of cardboard. 
It has excellent heat retention because air can be trapped between the middle yarns, which makes it a popular choice for sportswear like jerseys.
It is a material that is often used for clothing.*
Additionally, its firmness and resistance to pilling make it highly recommended for fabrics like dresses and tops.
